We’re proud to share that Kidz Express has been featured in the Chicago Sun-Times for our unwavering commitment to providing consistency and structure to West Side youth during the COVID-19 pandemic. The article, “Kidz Express helps West Siders from 5 to 14 find ‘consistency and structure’”, highlights how our organization adapted to unprecedented challenges to continue supporting our community.
As schools shifted to remote learning and many programs paused, Kidz Express remained a steadfast presence. We implemented a hybrid model combining in-person and virtual programming, ensuring that our students received academic support, mentorship, and meals in a safe environment. Recognizing the digital divide, we provided laptops to students lacking access to technology, enabling them to participate in online learning and stay connected.
Our focus on academic enrichment, health and wellness, athletics, and the arts continued, with adaptations to meet safety guidelines. By limiting the number of staff and students in our building and collaborating with other organizations, we bridged gaps and met the evolving needs of our community.
We are honored by this recognition and remain dedicated to empowering our youth, fostering leadership, and building a resilient community. Thank you to the Chicago Sun-Times for highlighting our efforts and to everyone who supports our mission.
